Tampa Fishing Charters Latest Report:
Snook Fishing:
As usual, the snook fishing in Tampa Bay has been phenomenal up to this point. This will probably change a bit with a big cold front passing through before the new year. However, the snook fishing has been great. My last couple of weeks have produced large numbers of Tampa Bay snook mostly in the 20-30″ range. I recently had a my friend Rick Hill, his son Fisher, and Uncle Mark out fishing and had a blast fishing with them.

Nice Snook

After catching 5 fish, I convinced Fisher to not only hold the snook but also kiss the fish which he did with every fish we caught the rest of the day. During another recent trip, we caught good numbers of snook including a 35.5″ beauty. It has been a while since I can remember such a good year for snook fishing. It really has been good for the entire year.

Trout Fishing:
We don’t get to talk a lot about trout fishing, but it has been a crazy trout bite since Christmas Eve. Every day we have fished since Christmas has produced some of the best trout number I every remember. We have been averaging about 30-50 trout between 16-22″. You can just about catch a trout on every cast. They have been responding very well to live greenbacks. On Christmas Eve, we had our annual Red Cup Fishing Team outing. After a good morning of fishing, we had seven boats raft up in the trout hole. At any given time, someone from each boat was catching a trout. I bet the team caught more than 150 trout that day. It was incredible.
Eco Tour:
On the last 20 minutes of my recent trips, we have been heading towards the power plant to check out the manatees, sting rays, dolphins, and sharks. The other day there was about 10 manatees hanging out by us and I expect more to show up after the recent cold front passes through. While in the area of the Gandy Power Plant, be sure to check out The Getaway for lunch or cocktails. I always have a great experience visiting there.
