Tampa Bay Fishing Charters Report:

Snook Fishing:

Had the opportunity to fish with Dan Ricker, his son Gage and Gage’s friend Brian Baughman this past weekend.  As my day usually starts, I was awake and on the bait flat at 6:15 in the morning.  Bait was a little tougher than usual due to a slow moving tide, but I managed to catch more than needed for the fishing trip.  Dan and Gage had been on a Tampa Fishing Charter with me before and caught some really nice snook including a monster, so they were prepared for some good snook fishing.

We did not get any this size, but caught lots of fish.  The bite started pretty good and continued to get better as the tide continued to come in.  We only fished a couple of spots and managed to catch fish at all locations.

This past week has been an amazing week for snook.  We have been averaging 25-30 every morning.  Have even been fishing some of my old spots and catching plenty of snook everywhere.  The trout bite is progressing well as well as the mackerel due to the bait flooding into the bay.

Moving into the month of May, start looking for larger snook roaming the gulf beaches getting ready to spawn.  There are also good numbers of trout on the beaches.  Big snook on the beach is one of my favorite months.  Even if you don’t have live bait, they will readily bite on many different lures and flies early in the morning.  Kind of nice way to start the morning with a nice walk on the beach and potentially catching some good size fish.
