Tampa Fishing Charters Report:

This week I had the opportunity to go fishing with my good friend Ron Kruder, his son Brian, and his father “Big” Earn. By the way, it was Earnie’s birthday fishing adventure. We started the morning getting bait. First flat we visited was mainly smaller baits, so we made an adjustment to a different flat and loaded up on some perfect size baits (with some that were probably too big). Tides were not great in the morning and I wanted to wait for the incoming tide before snook fishing, so we went on the hunt for some redfish. Which have not been in abundance lately. Started off in an area where I have been catch some smaller snook and a couple reds lately. Today however was all reds and only one snook. We ended up landing about a dozen reds between 20-25 inches. So, blackened redfish tacos for dinner.

The tide slacked, wind stopped, and it got hot. So we decided to take a short boat ride to cool off and head to the snook spot. Started off a little slow, but they finally started eating. Had a few double headers and one triple.

Left that spot for one last try in a area I had not fished in a long time and it payed off. Ended up with snook eating our bait on almost every cast. We did not get any big snook on this day, but caught about 25 fishing ranging from 18-27″. As usual, I had a really good time fishing with some good friends and looking forward to going again.
