Tampa Fishing Charters Report:

Snook Fishing Tampa Bay

Anyone who knows me, knows that the snook is my favorite fish to catch.  I have spent countless hours figuring out patterns, what bait to use, best tides to fish, etc.  I have found that the best times of the year to catch snook in Tampa Bay happens to be the spring and the fall.  We happen to be in one of those time periods and I must say that the fishing has been phenomenal.

I recently went out with my good friend Capt. Chris Camps.  We started the morning in downtown Tampa looking for Tarpon, but to no avail.  Changed our game plan and started fishing the docks for Snook.  We immediately

missed and few smaller ones and then all heck broke loose and a few big snook started crashing baits under the dock.  Next thing you know, I get a nice 34″ snook.  We did not catch a lot that morning, but had a great day catching snook and jacks.

This past weekend I had a charter with a few of the kids that fished with us during the Florida Fantasy Fishing Camp. We had a tough morning with extremely low tides.  We ended up only catching one snook in three different spots, but had a great time on the water.

After dropping off my clients, I decided to explore for an hour or so and see how good my new trolling motor batteries are (good by the way). Again, we had extreme low tides which made things difficult.  I ended up finding a good number of Tampa Bay snook in an area I would never have fished.  After catching about 10 fish, I invited a boat to come in and fish with me that was close by catching bait.  We must have caught over 30 snook and managed three keepers.  Turned out to be a great day.  I made some new friends and found a new fishing spot.
