Florida Fantasy Fishing Camp

Week 2

We are now into week 2 of the Florida Fantasy Fishing Camp for kids which is run out of Hula Bay in South Tampa.  Throughout the summer, a group of Tampa Bay Fishing Captains take kids from ages 8-15 out fishing Monday through Friday.  Week one was really good with over 160 snook released.  The first day of week 2 was a little rough due to the weather as it rained on us most of the day.  However, we made the best of it.  The first spot we tried was a little slow, but we managed to get a few to the boat.  The second spot was not so good.  The tide looked right, but the bite was slow.

The third spot was awesome with multiple double headers and lots of fish. This continued through the last spot.  By the end of the afternoon, the group landed approximately 30 snook, a few ladyfish, and a snapper.

The boys had a great day of fishing even though we got rained on and can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow.  The goal is to catch a few more fish each day.  Let’s just hope that the weather holds for the rest of the week so the kids can continue to catch lots of fish.
